28th Road Safety Week commences across Jammu province

Kathua: Awareness regarding road safety rules, inauguration of Point Of Sale(POS) and bikers rally marked the inaugural of 28th Road Safety Week observance here in Kathua today.
Regional Transport Office Kathua organised an impressive inaugural function in connection with 28th Road Safety Week being observed from 9th -15th January on the theme ‘Your Safety, Secures Your Family – Be Cautious On Road’ . On the occasion a rally of bikers was organised which was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan, who was the Chief Guest on the ocassion. Starting from RTO Office rally comprising Traffic Police personnel, volunteers of NCC and NSS, college students and general public, passed through main Chowks of the town and culminated at PWD Rest House Kathua.
DC Commercial Taxes Lakhanpur Puneet Sharma ,PO ICDS Rajinder Singh, CEO LSDA Sudershan Kumar, Avtar Singh Tehsildar, Indu Jamwal ARTO Kathua, K.C Sharma CTM Kathua, Devinder Verma, Sushil Gupta advocate, Satpal Sharma and Harmohander Singh were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Transport Officer Kathua Amarjeet Singh briefed about various events including exhibitions, Nukkad Natak ,symposium, medical checkup camps for commercial drivers ,workshop for drivers/helpers of school buses besides awareness programmes which would be held during the weeklong campaign at different places to impart awareness to people about the driving etiquettes, road safety rules and guidelines for obtaining various services and documents from the department.
POONCH: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch Gurvinderjeet Singh and SSP Poonch J.S Johar inaugurated 28th Road Safety Week at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sheesh Mahal by flagging off rally in which school children from different educational institutions participated.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC Poonch said that we must adhere to the traffic rules and adopt safety measures such as wear helmets, seat belts and not to use mobile phones while driving to avoid accidents.
While SSP in his message appealed the people not to allow their children without driving license to drive the vehicles and emphasised for organising more camps in the district to aware people about the safety rules.
ARTO Poonch Janghir Khan informed that various activities would be conducted during the week to aware people about the traffic rules and norms.
Among others ACR Ashraf Chowdhury , Dysp Hq Mohan Lal Sharma, Dysp Operation, Dysp DR, prominent citizens and officials of others departments were present on the occasion.
REASI: To begin with series of activities for celebrating the Road Safety Week in the district, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) today organised first camp in the premises of district complex Reasi.
District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar who was Chief Guest on the occasion, flagged off an awareness rally on ‘Road Safety’ which was taken out from the main complex and passed through interior roads, Reasi market and finally culminated at the place of organization.
Many officers, teachers, students and locals took part in the rally with flags, banners, pamphlets and posters for disseminating information on road safety among commuters, drivers, conductors and other local people. Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi Diksha Bamba also spoke on the occasion.
RAJOURI: To mark the 28th Road Safety Week, an awareness rally was flagged off from Old Bus Stand Rajouri by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, M Suleman Choudhary.
Additional SP Rajouri Mohammad Yusuf, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Rajouri, Jugal Sharma and Motor Vehicles Department Inspector Ranjeet Bhasin were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion SSP Rajouri, Mohammed Suleman said that the main aim behind celebrating the Road Safety Week to make the people aware about the traffic rules and ensuring partaking of stakeholders in the campaign.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Rajouri, Jugal Sharma said that several events in next seven days will be held across the distinct as a part of the Awareness Week.
Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with Traffic Police organized a rally in connection with 28th Road Safety Week on the theme ‘Your Safety, Secures Your Family, Be Cautious On Road’.
The rally was flagged off by District Development Commissioner Bhupinder Kumar. Additional District Development Commissioner Narinder Singh Bali, ARTO Zubair Ahmed, DSP Traffic , Education Department, students of various schools, drivers and automobile dealers were also present on the occasion.
UDHAMPUR: DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta flagged off a cyclothon rally from DC office complex to mark the beginning of 28th Road Safety Week here today.
District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar and SSP. Dr Shailendra Mishra also participated in the cyclothon.
A large number of cyclists participated in the cyclothon and spread awareness about various traffic rules and regulations. A mobile van was also launched on the occasion.
The cyclothon, after passing through the main market, finally culminated at Mini Stadium where the students of Amba Kids Home, Panthal presented a Nukkad Natak highlighting the importance of safety on the road.
Among others, Joint Director Planning Rakesh Jamwal, PO-DRDA Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chander Prakash, Chief Education Officer, Bishan Singh, District Panchayat Officer, Sandeep Seointra, District Information Officer Esha Chib besides other district officers, representatives of Beopar Mandal and other prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda flagged off a motor Rally organised by Motor Vehicle Department in connection with 28th Road Safety Week from New Bus Stand Samba in which 300 bikers including females participated.
Speaking on the occasion, DC stressed the need of strict adherence to the traffic norms and assured full cooperation from district administration to spread awareness about road safety norms.
ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh spoke about different aspects of road safety and importance of wearing seat belts and helmets in saving life of an individual in case of any mishap while driving.
Dy. SP Traffic J.S Sumbaria, SHO Samba Sanjeev Chib, MVI Madan Lal and staff of MVD Samba were present on the occasion.
