240 people rescued in Surankot
RAJOURI: In the ongoing rescue operation in Rajouri and Poonch, the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under Romeo Force, carried out the rescue operation. Around 240 people including 56 women and 130 children were evacuated from the villages Potha, Bela and Sanai in Surankote Tehsil,on Saturday. All the villagers who have been evacuated were shifted to the relief camp established at Army Goodwill School Potha where they are being provided medical aid, food and shelter. The rescue operation was started at 7:00AM and finished at 12:00 Noon.
The rescue operation was carried out with the efforts of Deputy Commander, 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Commanding Officer, 25 Rashtriya Rifles, Second-in-Command, 25 Rashtriya Rifles and SDPO, Ajay Sharma. During the rescue operation, specialised engineer effort with engineering equipment like boats were also used.
Shabir Ahmed, Panch of village Bela thanked the Indian Army for all the efforts and relief provided to them in terms of evacuation, medical aid and shelter.
