JAMMU: Two youth have been arrested for their involvement in rape of a 24-year-old girl in Bari Brahmana area on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Hem Raj, son of Rasila Ram, resident of Barjani Soda at present Dhainsar and Harminder Singh alias Bittu, son of Puran Singh of Kartholi village in Bari Brahmana.
Police said that family members of 24 year old girl, a resident of Dolian in Bari Brahmana approached with a complaint alleging that the modesty of their daughter was outraged when she had to attend nature’s call.
The complaint aledged that on leaving her home two locals followed and overpowered her and committed rape.
Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR 63/16 under Section 376 CrPC. As the pressure was mounting since accused and victim belonged to different segments of society, police conducted simultaneous raids and arrested both the accused.
The girl was taken for medical examination at Gandhi Nagar hospital and the its report is awaited. Further investigations are being conducted, police said.
