24 days training on folk arts concludes

JAMMU: The 24-day long training programme on folk arts organised by Progressive Youth Society, Ramnagar, District Udhampur in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi New Delhi, concluded in the premises of Prince Public School Paloura, Jammu.
In the valedictory function, Dr. Gurdit Singh Ex-Director Agriculture Department was the Chief Guest while Om Prakash Sharma, eminent writer presided over. The programme started with welcome address by Manoj Kumar Sharma ‘Nishchint’ President Progressive Youth Society Ramnagar followed by conduct of proceedings by Anand Sharma. During the training, special emphasis was given on art form Karak.
Fifteen students of different schools participated in the training programme under the guidance of Sat Paul Sharma and Santosh Bandral. Students like Kashish Tripathi, Sonika Rauljanvi Kumari, Parth Tripathi, Vishavjeet Singh, Chhavi Sharma and Dhrub Gotam enthralled the audience by performing Geetru, Karakan, Ghori and Suhag.
Dr Gurdit Singh highlighted the significance of folk arts in present time and stressed upon the students to get connected with folk arts of the region to conserve the heritage. Prince Mohan Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
