RAMBAN/JHAJJAR KOTLI: Police on Wednesday foiled two bovines smuggling bids and rescued 24 bovines from the clutches of three smugglers.
According to a report, a police team led by Inspr Tariq Naik, SHO Police Sttaion Banihal under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohd Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar conducted a raid at Chamalwas – Neel Route near Chaknarwah and found a bovine smuggler namely Shabir Ahmed Sohil son of Gulam Rasool Sohil resident of Krachihall Neel smuggling bovines in a load carrier JK19 – 2629.
Bovines were rescued and a case under FIR No. 54/2015 section 188 RPC/3 PC Act was registered at Police Station Banihal.
Meanwhile during the intervening night of 5th -6th May, a team of Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Hilal Azhar intercepted a truck (JK02AL-7095). During the search of the vehicle it was found loaded with 20 bovines which were rescued and the two smugglers identified as Javed Ahmed son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Rajpura Mandi and Rajkumar son of Suram Chand resident of Gole Market Udhampur were arrested.
A case under FIR No 44/2015 section 188 RPC, 3/5 PC Act was registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Shiv Kumar Chauhan, In-Charge SP Rural and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
