Over 200 evacuated from firing-affected hamlets

Over 200 people have been evacuated to safe areas by police from border hamlets that were affected by Pakistan’s shelling in Arnia and R.S Pura belts of Jammu sector.
“Over 200 people have been evacuated from shelling-hit border hamlets along the International Border (IB) in Arnia and R.S Pura belts of Jammu sector,” police officials said.
They were shifted to government buildings and Radha Soami Satsang ghar, they said.
Confirming the reports of evacuation, District Magistrate Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu said, “Situation is unpredictable along the borderline.”
“In the view of firing from across the border, we shifted the people living in villages close to IB to safer areas,” he said.
Violating the ceasefire for the 10th time this month, Pakistani troops on Sunday opened heavy fire on Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani troops had fired mortar shells along the LoC in Poonch District on Saturday drawing equal retaliation from army.
On 3rd October, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire four time by shelling over forward areas and villages along LoC Border in Gulmarg sector of Kashmir Valley and Poonch and international border in RS Pura sector in Jammu region in which a girl was killed and six persons were injured.
There have been over 100 ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control in recent months. (PTI)
