2 police constables arrested with 350 liquor pouches

UDHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday arrested two constables for smuggling liquor and recovered 350 pouches from their possession.
According to a report, a tip-off information SHO Udhampur Mahesh Sharma laid Nakka at Jakheni Chowk on National Highway and during frisking arrested two police constables and recovered 350 pouches of country made liquor from the possession of both, thus foiled a bid to smuggle liquor to district Doda.
Alert police cops on seeing suspecious movement of one person who was waiting for Doda bound bus near Jakheni Nakka carried out search and during search found 350 pouches of country made liquor inside the box.
The arrested Constables were identified as Joginder Singh son of Laxmi Chand resident of Tehsil and District Doda and other as Veer Singh son of Janak Raj resident of Bhadwah in Doda. Udhampur Police has registered a case under FIR No 464/2014 section 48 Excise Act and launched the investigation.
