KULGAM: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs and taking stringent action against drug peddlers, police on Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession. As per the details, a party led by SHO Police Station Kulgam under supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam during Naka checking at Srandoo crossing, intercepted three suspects riding a Scooty (JK03H-6702). During search, 29 bottles of liquor (Rum) and 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession. Two accused were identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Nazir Ahmad Dar, resident of Bogund and Gulzar Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar, resident of Naibasti, Anantnag while one drug peddler, Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, resident of Bogund managed to flee from the spot. The two accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remained in custody. FIR No. 63/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation started while efforts are on to nab absconding drug peddler.
