JAMMU: Following the death of a drug peddler, SSP Jammu suspended two cops and ordered a magisterial enquiry into the entire incident. Rinku Kumar, the alleged drug peddler, was arrested on 13th December for smuggling 67 pouches of illicit liquor which were seized by a police team and was released on bail two days later. Rinku died on Friday morning after allegedly being tortured by police according to family members which lead to large-scale protests in Ganjansoo area of Marh Constituency.
Alleging that Kumar was tortured in police custody, the relatives of the deceased held a protest and tried to ransack the Gajansoo police post.
SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta said “We have suspended two policemen and ordered an inquiry into the entire incident.”
