KATHUA: Excise Depar-tment on Tuesday booked one person under J and K Excise Act besides destroying 1,700 kgs of Lahan, one working still, 35 pouches and eight bottles of illicit liquor during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua.
Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the excise team Kathua led by ETO, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication Jammu, Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors Excise, Arun Kumar and Shadi Lal raided the Jarai, Mai Chak, Saktachak, Banyari and Chhiba Chak areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids one person namely Madan Lal, son of Haria, resident of Mai Chak, Kathua was booked under Section 48 (a) of J and K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
In the process more than, 1,700 kilograms of Lahan, one working still, 35 pouches, and eight bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from State land. The excise team destroyed the recovered Lahan on spot.
Meanwhile, under the active supervision of I Angchok, Excise Commissioner, J and K and Ganshyam Singh Dy Excise Commissioner, (Executive), Jammu the excise team led by ETO Excise Range North Tinna Mahajan along with Inspector Akhnoor Range Harish Sharma raided the villages Tanda Sathar (Fkata), Sohal, Jad, Migrant Camp, Kaleeth and adjoining areas in Akhnoor Range. During the raids, 120 Kgs of Lahan recovered in the State land was destroyed on spot. The team arrested one woman namely Gurmeet Kour, wife of Gurnam Singh resident of Jad on account of possessing four bottles of illicit liquor and booked under Section 48 of J and K Excise Act.
