1,835 appear in Rayat Bahra University JEE-Mock test

MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University, conducted mock JEE-2014 and scholarship test in the campus on Monday in which 1,835 students across Chandigarh, Mohali, Kurali, Morinda, Kharar, Panchkula and Punjab participated.
Aiming at testing skills ahead of JEE ’14, the mock test was organised free of cost with a bounty of prizes to embolden the students. Aspirants in engineering courses, only those with +2 non-medicals / medical with mathematics, participated in the exam. Simultaneously, two scholarship tests were also conducted for 10+2 Arts, Commerce, Medical, Vocational students and for metric students.
In JEE mock test Swetanshu Kaushik from Government Model Senior Secondary School Chandigarh won the first position, Jujhar Singh from Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School Chandigarh second position and Rajat Tripathy Kaushik from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Chandigarh won the third position.
In scholarship test for 10+2, Gurkirt Singh from Govt. Senior Secondary School Khirzrabad won first position, Rakshanda Sharma from APJ Smart School Kharar won second and Kuldeep Singh from Govt. Model Senior Secondary school Kharar won the third position.
The first three positions carried cash prize of Rs.11,000, Rs. 5,100 and Rs. 2,100 respectively.
Besides the cash prizes, first 10 position holders were awarded scholarships, trophies and certificates also.
In scholarship test for Class X students, Ramandeep Kaur from Hendersen Jubilee Senior Secondary School Kharar won the first position Sonali from Vikram Public High School Kharar won the second position and Sarbjeet Kaur from Guru Harkrishan Public School Kurali won the third position. Winners were honored with cash prize, certificate and trophy.
Special arrangements like pick up and dropping facility for thousands of students from various locations in and around Mohali provided for the test which started early in the day. Free lunch facility was arranged for all the participants.
Chairman, Rayat-Bahra Group, Gurvinder Singh Bahra distributed the prizes to the winners and congratulated them for performing well in the competitions. He said that after the success of 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 mock tests, the institute again decided to hold a mock test-JEE to give aspirants an opportunity for self-evaluation and introspection. “Mock test was also meant to educate the students about JEE so that they get the benefits of performing better in the JEE test without any kind of fear. Those students who have not opted for any kind of coaching till date could gear themselves with some crash courses,” Bahra said.
He also announced scholarships worth lacs for the needy students and conveyed about the group special concessions which group provide to those students whose parents are not alive-100 per cent concession, Fatherless-50 per cent concession, Single Girl child-50 per cent and 25 per cent concession for disable and physically challenged students for duration of the course and more concessions for sports persons who always seeks admission in RBGI Group.
Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S.K Bansal, RBU, Campus said that the mock test has always proved boon for financially unsound students, who could not take coaching from private coaching centers. It was a golden opportunity for them to study the pattern of the actual exam. No registration fee was charged from the students and they were provided with transport facility at key points.
