Handover Old DC Office Complex to Judiciary: DB

JAMMU: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice B.S. Walia on Friday directed the State Government to issue orders for transferring the Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex Kishtwar to the Judiciary in consultation with the Registrar General of the State High Court.
The Division Bench further directed that on shifting of Deputy Commissioner’s Complex to new complex, it shall be ensured that the old complex is not used for any other purpose except providing space to the Judiciary.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Irfaan Mohammad Khan and Rahul Raina appearing for the Bar Association Kishtwar and Senior Advocate A.V. Gupta with Advocate Munish Sharma appearing for Registrar General J&K High Court, Senior AAG S.S. Nanda with Deputy AG Aseem Sawhney appearing for the State Government, the Division Bench observed that Senior AAG S.S. Nanda has made a statement that the State Government shall abide by the instructions given by the then Chief Minister and the assurance of the Advocate General D.C. Raina and there is no question of deviating from the instructions. Senior AAG S.S. Nanda further submitted that it will take some time to shift the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Kishtwar to new Block, therefore, as on date the complex cannot be transferred to the Judiciary.
The directions came In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Bar Association Kishtwar through its President I.A. Hamal seeking handing over of entire Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Kishtwar.
