17 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers nabbed

SAMBA/BHADARWAH: Police on Friday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 17 bovines and arresting two smugglers in two different Nakas .
As per the details, during the night intervening 17th -18th Nov 2016, a surprise Naka was laid by Police Party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh near Tapyal on NHW-1A. During checking, a truck bearing registration No. JK02AS-8826 which was coming from Kathua side was signaled to stop but driver accelerated his vehicle but active cops chased it and intercepted the same near Nonath Ashram, Ghagwal.
The driver of vehicle taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot. However on checking 12 bovines were found loaded in it. The truck were seized and a case vide FIR No. 97/2016 under section 188/RPC, 2/3 PC Act was registered in Police Station Ghagwal. Meanwhile, during the intervening night of 17th -18th Nov 2016, two persons namely Showkat Ali son of Mohd Ramzan Shah resident of Haliyan and Arif Hussain son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Kahi Mohallah, Bhadarwah were apprehended from Nalthi for transporting bovines from Bani, Kathua to Bhadarwah. Five bovines were rescued from them by the police team under the supervision of SDPO Sajjad Khan, Addl SP Bhadarwah Sargun Shukla and SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas. A case vide FIR No 136/16 under section 188 RPC 3 PC Act was registered against them at Police Station Bhadarwah.
