STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the biased behaviour towards Jammu on the behest of Kashmir by the current Coalition Government in the allotment of medical colleges.
Addressing the gathering, Ashok Gupta said that two medical colleges have been allotted to Kashmir and one is given to Jammu in Rajouri. Gupta said that the development of medical infrastructure in the State is a welcome step, but like in the past Jammu again has been neglected on the behest of Kashmir.
He stated that the Kashmir region has SKIMS, Soura Institute as well as various other medical institutes to cater to the health needs or emergency of the people but on the contrary, Jammu region has just one GMC. The people of Jammu have always been at the receiving end, when it comes the matter of development adding, he said adding Jammu is in dire need of a medical institute because the people of Jammu have no institute for specialised treatment, and are forced to go to different states for their treatment which proves most expensive.
Gupta said that a trauma centre in Jammu is need of the hour as most of the people who are suffering from this problem have to be rushed to the other states. He demanded GMC Jammu like medical college in Udhampur.
Party workers who were present at the time of protest included Parkash, Vickoo, Rakesh, Manohar, Krishna, Santosh, Bantu, Ram Paul, Nikku, Veeru, Abhishek and various others.
