VIJAYPUR: Police on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 16 bovines and arresting a bovine smuggler at Vijaypur.
As per details, a party from Police Station Vijaypur, while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NH Rakh Barotian Vijaypur, signaled a truck (PB12N-0621) to stop, which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. On seeing Naka party, the driver accelerated speed of vehicle and tried to flee, but alert cops chased the vehicle and apprehended the driver along with truck few metres away from Naka point. During checking of vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden in the vehicle, which were rescued. The accused driver, identified as Sukhdev Singh, son of Niranjan Singh, resident of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Tajpur-Ludhiana, Punjab was arrested on the spot and a case vide FIR No. 206/2020 under Sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered against him at Police Station Vijaypur.
