CEO reviews preparedness for ULB, Panchayat polls

JAMMU: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J and K, Shantmanu on Friday reviewed the preparedness of ensuing Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayat elections with all the Deputy Commissioner of the State through video conferencing this afternoon.
The CEO had detailed discussion with the Deputy Commissioners on several issues related to the smooth conduct of elections and sought up to date status of summary revision of the municipal electoral rolls, disposal of claims/objections received from the voters regarding inclusion/deletion/correction of their names, reservation of wards, status of EVMs and other machinery infrastructure connected with the conduct of elections.
The CEO was satisfied with the progress on the preparations and urged the concerned to clear the discrepancies, if any and complete the entire process as per the calendar devised by the election authorities enabling it to proceed further.
In a separate meeting with the functionaries of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, the CEO took stock of the status of summary revision of municipal electoral rolls and response of the people during the special camps held from 16th to 18th March, 2015 in all wards of the JMC.
He directed the concerned to pay focused attention on all the claims filed by the voters and address their concerns carefully and by conducting proper verifications, and within the stipulated time frame.
