Inter-department sports meet of JU TT, Chess competitions begins

JAMMU: As a part of the ongoing inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu, the Table Tennis and Chess competition in both men and women section started at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here on Friday.
In the opening round of the competition, Department of Psychology won their scheduled game against Department of Law whereas in men’s category, Department of Economics and Department of History as also ICCCR advanced into the next round.
Meanwhile, in Chess, Department of Economics won their game in women’s section while Department of Environment Sciences and The Law School advanced in men’s section.
Today’s events were officiated by the technical panel comprising Ravish Vaid, Sushil Kumar, Gagan Kumar, PD Singh, Ankit and Narinder.

TABLE TENNIS: WOMEN: Department of Psychology beat Law School 2-1: Mridula defeated Antra Pandit 11-0, 11-1; Aman lost to Bhuvaneshwari 11-06, 11-7. Doubles: Mridula and Aman outplayed Bhuvaneshwari and Antra 11-3, 11-5.
MEN: Department of Economics beat MCA Department 2-0: Sahil beat Vishav Gandotra 11-07, 11-06. Doubles: Rajesh Singh beat Manoj Choudhary 11-08, 11-06. Department of History defeated Department of Commerce 2-0: Shubham Singh trounced Nawang 11-07, 11-06. Doubles: Vikas Singh downed Bhushan Sharma 11-05, 17-18, 11-05. ICCCR and HRM beat Department Mathematics 2-0: Abhinav beat Ajay 11-01, 11-08. Doubles: Ayush Sharma blanked Bhageshwar Sharma 11-03, 11-06.
CHESS: WOMEN: Department of Economics beat Law School 2-0. MEN: Department of Environment Sciences defeated Department of Chemistry 2 -0; Law School outplayed Bio-Technology Department 2 – 0.
CRICKET: Meanwhile, in Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, Department of Mathematics outplayed Department of Chemistry by nine wickets. In other match, Department of Political Sciences trounced Department of Physical Education by two wickets. Department of Botany also won their match against Department of Zoology beating latter by 20 runs.
