Residents demand construction of Atholi-Machail Chandi Mata Road

JAMMU: Residents of far-flung area of Tehsil Machail of District Kishtwar today held a protest at Exhibition Ground here demanding construction of Atholi to Machail Chandi Mata Road, which is under construction under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
“The agency has been constructing their five kilometers road for the last eight years,” they said adding that some vested interest people of Garh and Massu villages have disrupted the ongoing construction of said road.
“The people of onwards 22 villages and a chunk of 15,000 people have been suffering and lakh of pilgrims of Holy Chandi Mata Temple Machail are also suffering due to disruption made by two villages,” they alleged .
The people appeared before Governor and appealed to him to intervene into the matter personally for immediate redressal.
They met Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal who assured to look up the matter with in one week but till date nothing has been heard.
They requested the Governor N.N Vohra to intervene into the matter personally and the construction work on said road may be resumed within a week time otherwise they will intensify their agitation.
The protest was organised under the leadership of Rangail Singh Rathore, Sansar Singh, Nand Lal, Bodh Raj, Bal Krishan, Rumal Chand Bodh, Jaggar Nath, Kartar Singh Rathore, Nath Ram, Kunj Lal, Thakur Chand, Ram Lal, Prehlad Singh, Tsering Phunchok, Dya Krishan, Sunjeet Singh, Mast Ram, Veer Lal, Ram Parkash, Krishan Lal Bodh, Khew Tsering, Tsering Tashi and Sonam Dorjay.
