SAMBA: Police on Saturday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 15 bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
According to a report, a police party headed by Inspector Rakesh Sharma, SHO Police Station Ghagwal intercepted Truck (HP38C-7349) on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Ghagwal which was on its way from Samba to Kathua. On search of vehicle, police found it loaded with 15 bovines which were rescued, however the driver and the owner of the said vehicle fled away leaving the vehicle on spot much before the police Naka. The vehicle was seized and a case has been registered. Efforts are being made to on to nab the absconding accused driver.
