ICF hosts musical evening ‘Geet Rang’

JAMMU: For the uplift of music, literature, art and cultural heritage of the nation, the Indian Cultural Forum (ICF) under its Galaxy series organised a musical evening ‘Geet Rang’ here at K.L Sehgal Hall on Sunday.
The event was based on the poetry of Sahitya Academy Awarded Dogri Poet Sita Ram Sapolia of Deyaani (Samba). Seven songs from his latest book ‘Chetain Dee Samhaal’ were presented by the renowned singers of the State.
A musical video album ‘Naa Sajna Da’ of S. Rabjot Singh life member of Indian Cultural Forum was also released during the programme.
Professor Lalit Magotra, Chief Patron of the Forum in his welcome address highlighted the activities of the forum and introduced a vast range of the programmes to be organised by the forum in near future.
The event started with a song sung by Shyam Manyal in Raag Yaman Kalyan. Manju Bala a veteran singer presented a song in Raag Bhairavi ‘Lagga Hirkhey Da Rog’ which was well appreciated by the audience.
Rabjot Singh, Manju Bala, Gursharan Kour and Apoorva Jamwal presented song items.
Sita Ram Sapolia himself recited two of his songs on the demand of audience.
Sham Sajan President and Director of Indian Cultural Forum sang a song in Raag Pahari.
The presidium was shared by Om Goswami, Prof. Reeta Jitendera as Chief Guest, Prof. Veena Gupta and D.C Raina Senior Advocate J and K High Court were the Guests of Honour and Vijay Singh Sambyal Station Director All India Radio Jammu was the Special Guest.
Om Goswami appreciated the efforts of Indian Cultural Forum and Prof. Reeta Jitendera emphasised that such programmes are need of the time. Raj Kumar Behrupia an all-round anchor of the State anchored the programme in a very refined manner.
Gyaneshwar Sharma a renowned Dogri poet presented vote of thanks.
