Conference on Juvenile Justice concludes at CUJ

JAMMU: The first ever J and K State Level Conference on Juvenile Justice ‘Care and Protection: Act-Options and Opportunities,’ sponsored by UNICEF concluded here at Temporary Academic Block, Central University of Jammu on Friday.
Participants from various government departments including Social Welfare, Education and Police, Civil Society, Academia and Non-Governmental Organisations like International Red Cross and Red Cross deliberated on various aspects of juvenile justice system in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Conference identified various challenges in the operational aspect of Juvenile Justice Act and Integrated Child Protection Scheme in the State.
The department of Sociology and Social Work assured that the department with the support of UNICEF will bring out a detailed report which will be shared with department of social welfare government of J and K. Vice Chancellor CUJ Prof Ashok Aima assured that the University would provide support for establishing the resource centre for childcare and protection. UNICEF team comprising Vandhana Khandari, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF New Delhi, Ved Prakash, UNICEF, Assam, Bharti Ali, Resource person from New Delhi provided expertise insight for the conference.
Hilal Bhat Consultant UNICEF J and K presented the summary report of the conference and a key person for bringing all the stakeholders together.
Prof L.S Ghandi Doss, HoD Sociology and Social Work, organized the conference and Mohd Uzair and Bhat Iqbal were Co-coordinators and travel Green Earth was the event management agency.
