Fog disrupts flight operations at Indira Gandhi International AirportNew Delhi: Five flights were today disrupted with at least three diverted as heavy fog led to low visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

Flight departures were disrupted between 0414 hours till 1008 hours due to low visibility, airport sources said.

Three incoming flights were diverted during the low visibility operations period, airport authorities said

All landings are taking place under CAT-III B landing system, the sources said.

CAT-III B allows the aircraft to land in visibility as low as 50 meters.

Visibility was recorded less than 50 meters at 8 AM both at Palam and Safdarjung observatories.

Minimum visibility required for CAT III landing at Delhi Airport is 50 meters and for low visibility take-off operations (LVTO) it is 125 meters.

GMR-run IGIA is the only airport in the country equipped with CAT IIIB.
