A continuous search operation after the militant attack in Pathankot, continuous coverage of the incident by media, discussing the incident on media panels by defense experts and continuous un required statements from the central ministers has led one to conclude on following points; The open threat of militant organisation to teach India a lesson as compliment to the unscheduled stopover of PM of India in Pakistan seems to have been taken not seriously. No extra security measures appear to have been taken on borders as well as in side the country.
The information conveyed by the abducted Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police to his senior was not taken seriously and in a casual way, culminating into the reaching of the attackers very close to their targeted point.
There is complete failure of police at various checking points established to check the movement of suspicious elements.
The operation seems to be not well conceived as it was stopped on first night without being sure of elimination of all the infiltrators. The handling of dead bodies of the attackers in a casual manner which resulted into the causality, of one of the high ranking officer. The death of the army personnel on second day of operation somewhere speaks of the operation not well planned as to the topography and vast area under attack. The discussion of defence experts on the news channels was not a positive discussion but confined only to difference of opinion from PM’s unscheduled visit to Pakistan, carrying on of peace talks and armies combating role etc. and just shouting on the adversaries of other side.
The different statements were floating on the news channels from the persons briefing to the media which was also an indicator of lack of communication.
The statements of our Central Ministers that Pakistan should not take India in a casual way is decade old statements and always read over after obtaining print from old computer.
No concrete policy is in sight to deal such a country, whose democratic setup is under the control of ‘ISI, Military and Militant Organisations’.
At such situation when our brave soldiers face the hard reality at the ground, the leaders never hesitate to show their faces on national channels speaking irrelevant to the situation. It would have been better if some national leader have spoken about some drastic action against the commanders managing the borders, action against defaulter police officers and to think of measures to be taken to cut such incidents in future. Many eyebrows have been raised about continuation of dialogue with Pakistan but it require a serious thought as the democratically elected leaders in Pakistan have no say being under the tight grip of ISI and military. We should not at the same time forget that ‘Bus Ride’ by then PM of India was celebrated by the Pakistan in the shape of ‘Kargil War’ and present ‘Birthday wish, happy marriage blessing and bow to the mother’ of present PM of India has been replied in the shape of ‘Attack in Pathankot’. How we forget that at both these occasions the PM of Pakistan is the same, same is the hatred thinking of ISI and Army in Pakistan owing to its great defeat resulting emergence of separate country as Bangladesh. Above all it is the time to pay homage to the Martyrs of this attack and to sympathies with their families. Such situations are required to be analysed by the war, terrorism and security experts rather than our leaders who come to power by their hollow slogans and apprise the nation after obtaining briefing from such experts.
