136th Birth Anniversary of Sir Chhotu Ram celebrated

SAMBA: On the 136th Birth Anniversary of Rehber-e-Azam-Deen-Bandhu Sir Chottu Ram, a function was organised by Sir Chottu Ram Charitable Trust here at Thandi Khui. The event was presided over by H.P Singh Parihar President Sangjukat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti and the proceedings were conducted by Shamsher Singh Sandhu and Yashvir Malik.
Ch. Kamal Singh President Jat Kalyan Sabha and Convener of the event gave brief description of aim of Trust. He said that last year on 27th March, the basement of the Bhawan of the Trust was inaugurated by Union Minister Barinder Singh and the revered national and social activists from all over India visited this revered venue and by giving financial support/announcing financial support which inspired management of the Trust to take up the pending work. “The work has been started”, he informed adding that this Bhawan will cater to the accommodation problem of the pilgrim visiting Mata Vaishno Devi and Amarnath cave shirnes. Chief Guest Ch. Barinder Singh said Sir Chottu Ram struggled for poor and weak by rising above caste, creed and religion. What he did for farmers whole world knows.
H.P. Singh Parihar in his presidential address said that this Bhawan is being constructed for the benefit of all sections of society. Prof Dalel Singh Vice Chancellor and Col. M.S. Dahiya, Advocate Rajesh President Jat Sevak Sangh, Suresh Deshwal President Kamveer Varg Social Trust, Dharampal Rathi Retred Chief Engineer, Mahanand Dehiya, Ram Chandra Shastri, Jagveer Rathi, Partap Singh Ranan, Jaipal Puniya, Dalveer Singh Jagwan President Jabardast Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti, Capt. Jaipal Singh Punia also spoke on the occasion. Besides Naib Subedar Vijay Kumar Choudhary from Nowshera the recipient of Surya Chakra by President of India for successful surgical strike, meritorious students of the rural communities were also honoured.
Later, a resolution was also passed highlighting various demands including simplification of formalities for compensation to refugees.
Ch. Sat Pal Mattu, Ch. Rattan Lal, Ch. Sudagar Mal, Ch. Karnail Singh, Joginder Mattu, Capt. Swaran Singh, Avtar Singh and Vijay Singh were also present.
