SUNDERBANI: Custodian General Javid Khan along with Custodian Jammu, Deputy Custodian Rajouri and field inspectors visited Sunderbani and stopped the ongoing construction/renovation work of Treasury Office in Tehsil complex Sunderbani on the grounds that the land where this building is being constructed/repaired belongs to Custodian Department.
According to sources the over 34 years old dilapidated treasury building within the Sunderbani Tehsil complex, which had become dangerous to house the office, was sanctioned by the competent authority for reconstruction/renovation at a cost of Rs 38 lakhs and the work had been commenced by the contractor.
Earlier a toilet building construction of which was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh in the same Tehsil complex, was stopped and stayed by the Custodian General.
In both these cases the issue is with the government departments requiring completion of certain formalities but by unilaterally stopping the works has invited the contractual complicacies and claims besides serious criticism from the general public who have to face inconvenience in the absence of treasury building and the toilet.
