KARGIL: Protest erupts in Kargil after top Shia Cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Baqir Nimr was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia.
Baqir Nimr was known as a critique on Saudi regime and he has been put behind the bar. People of Kargil did numerous protests to release Sheikh Baqir Nimr.
However, after the news came of the execution of the Shia leader Imam Khomeini memorial Trust, Islamia School and Anjuman Sahib Zaman called complete shutdown in Kargil tomorrow and also announced three days mourn.
Briefing to media, chairman IKMT Shiek Hussain Lutfi calls for three days mourn and complete shutdown, protest in Kargil.
He said, “we strongly condemn this crowdice act of Saudi Arabia.
“They did great mistake of assassinating Ayatullah Nimr and they will reap what they sow” Lutfi said.
According to the Saudi Ministry, those executed had been found guilty of being in “terrorism” and adopting a “Takfiri” ideology. All on the list of those killed are Saudi nationals except an Egyptian and a Chadian.
The Saudi Interior Ministry did not elaborate on the method to execute the convicts, but said they were executed Saturday in 12 cities across the country.
Sheikh Nimr, a critic of the Riyadh regime, was shot by Saudi police and arrested in 2012 in the Qatif region of Shia-dominated Eastern Province, which was the scene of peaceful anti-regime demonstrations at the time.
However, in Kargil Baseej e Imam staged protest and raised anti-Saudi, Israel and US slogans. The protesters also burnt effigy of the Saudi regime.
