Impressive Nagar Kirtan taken out

KATHUA: To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji , District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Kathua on Saturday took out an impressive Nagar Kirtan here in Kathua.
Thousands of devout Sikhs drawn from different parts of Kathua and its outskirts participated in the Nagar Kirtan which was taken out from Gurudwara Singh Sabha Kathua.
Organised by District Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (DGPC), the Nagar Kirtan passed via Mukherjee Chowk , Jarai Chowk, Old Bus Stand Chowk, New Bus Stand Chowk and reached Swan Chak back to Captain Chowk Crossing, Sheehdi Chowk and culminated at Gurudwara Singh Sabha Kathua with Ardas by Sikh Sangat.
The devotees, were reciting Bhajan Kirtan, raising slogans in praise of Guru Ji Maharaj and were chanting ‘Jo Bolay So Nihal Sat Sri Akaal’ enroute.
It was led by Panj Piyaras in traditional religious dresses which was followed by Swari of Guru Granth Sahib on a fully decorated open vehicle and then by scores of Jhankis. These Jhankis were organised by various Sikh organisations.
A large number of people from Hindu community also paid their obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib enroute.
Thousands of Sikh devotees including men, women and children participated in the Nagar Kirtan with great devotion. The Sikh youth played Ghatka enroute and showed many feats during the Nagar Kirtan. A large number of devotees were sweeping the road on which the Nagar Kirtan proceeded.
For the first time the in service for removal of all wastage from the route from where Nagar Kirtan passed to maintain cleanliness. This gesture of organisers was highly appreciated by the people.
To greet the Nagar Kirtan the people enroute had erected welcome gates and raised sign boards. Besides, the stalls serving food items, fruits, water and tea to participants were also installed at various places by the people to serve the devotees who had taken part in Nagar Kirtan. People were also bursting crackers.
ADC Manmohan took part in the Nagar Kirtan and dignitaries were present were DGPC President Charanjeet Singh Bhola , Amrik Singh , Navjot Singh, Davinder Singh , ex-MLA Dhyan Chand of National Conference , ex-President Municipal Council Naresh Sharma of Congress, Sohan Lal Sharma Ex-Chairman of MC Kathua, Nirdosh Sharma PCC Secretary , Advocate Sushil Gupta and Ranjeet Singh.
The Kathua Police made elaborate arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan and the traffic was also diverted from the routes where from the Nagar Kirtan was to pass.
