JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) announced the commencement of the 12th J&K UT Shooting Championship 2023, which will be held at the prestigious SVD Shooting Range in Katra, District Reasi.
The event, sanctioned by the CEO SMVD, Anshul Garg, promises to be a proud moment for shooters and sports enthusiasts alike.
The decision was made during a General House meeting of JKRA under the leadership of President S. S. Sodhi at Amar Singh Club.
All preparations have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of this 4-day event, scheduled to take place from August 2 to 5, 2023.
Expressing their gratitude, JKRA members extended a warm welcome to participants from various districts of J&K UT, as well as experts, champions, and national and international sportspersons.
The tournament aims to foster a spirit of healthy competition and promote shooting sports in the region.
The guidance and support of Chief Patron DGP J&K, Dilbag Singh, have been instrumental in making this championship possible.
JKRA members expressed gratitude for his wisdom and encouragement. Leading up to the event, committees have been diligently formed to ensure its successful execution. Chairman K.S. Jamwal, CEO Sharat Chandra, and Technical Committee Head Rajesh Virdi shared their experiences and provided advice to participants for the upcoming tournament, emphasizing the importance of smooth conduct and fair play.
The JKRA announced Mansotra as the Convener of the event, given his international experience. His role will encompass welcoming guests, participants, shooters, and members throughout the championship.
The JKRA has called upon the national media and sports channels to extend full coverage of the event, as it will help to boost the morale of all stakeholders involved, including coaches, technical teams, participants, and judges.
President S. S. Sodhi urged all J&K citizens, sports lovers, school owners, and club members to actively participate and generously sponsor the said championship.
He said that their support, both in presence and financial contribution, will help foster the growth of shooting sports in the region.
He also extended heartfelt thanks to Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Secretary Sports Council J&K, and His Excellency Governor J&K Manoj Sinha for their unwavering support and encouragement, which has provided shooters with the opportunity to showcase their skills on this esteemed platform.
