Major drug smuggling bid foiled in Jammu

JAMMU: Jammu Police on Tuesday foiled a major bid of drug smuggling by recovering 12 Kgs of heroin worth Rs 24 Cr in the international market and Rs 11 lakh cash and arrested three narco smugglers in Jammu.
Giving details, Addl Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said that three suspects travelling in Verna car (PB02 CQ 7749) were rounded up near Narwal area and during their searches, over 12 Kg of heroin and cash Rs 11,00,000 recovered from their possession.
FIR 197/2022 under sections 8/21/22/27/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Trikuta Nagar and the trio was arrested.
The arrested narco smugglers have been identified as Sarvwan Singh, son of Kala Singh; Malkeet Singh, son of Gurmeet Singh and Balbir Singh, son of Balbinder Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh said that Jammu police is working tirelessly to uproot the chain of drug supply in the region while thorough questioning of accused drug peddlers is going on to know the origin of the drugs consignment and its further distribution.
Meanwhile, from the packing material of the drugs, it appears to have been dropped by drones. Further details will be available after detailed interrogation, ADGP added.
Giving details, ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh said that Jammu Police led by SSP Chandan Kohli, working on a tip off laid special naka in Narwal area under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma, SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and led by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Nayat Ali.
