118 bags of CAPD sugar seized

DODA: Continuing with its drive against illegal hoarders and black-marketers, Doda Police on Saturday seized 118 bags of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department sugar from Bhatyas area in Gandoh of Doda Distt.
Gandoh Police seized 59 quintals of sugar in 118 gunny bags of 50 kg each of CAPD sugar from a shed at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Distt Doda, a police spokesman said.
“We have been getting complaints of CAPD ration being black marketed since long, and on 17th of this month, we arrested a CAPD store keeper for dumping 501 quintals of ration in private shops for black marketing. During the investigation and further questioning of the arrested CAPD employee, we came to know that he has dumped 118 bags of sugar in a shed, ” said SHO Gandoh Tariq Naik.
“Today evening in presence of SDM Gandoh Dil Mir Choudhary we recovered 118 bags of sugar and sealed the shed,” SHO added.
It is notable to mention here that on 17th of this month, on a specific information that government ration is being dumped in private shops, a Police party led by SHO Gandoh Tariq Naik raided two shops belonging to Abdul Latief and Ghulam Mustafa in Bhatyas market and recovered 672 bags of Rice and 330 bags of wheat and storekeeper of CAPD Abdul Rasheed Zarger was arrested.
“59 quintal of sugar seized from the shed was meant for the public of Bhatyas area but was reportedly being dumped for selling in open market,” Officer said adding that inquiry is still going on and some more arrests and siezers are expected soon as it seems to be a big Nexus of dwindling Govt ration in open market.
Meanwhile, Police lodged an FIR number 27/2016 under section 409, 511,120-B RPC.
