RAJOURI: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 11 bovines from the clutches of three smugglers.
According to a report, a police team from Police Post Chingus led by In-Charge Police Post SI Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of SHO Police Station Rajouri Inspr. Yash Paul laid a Naka at Chingus and rescued 11 bovines which were on way from Rajouri to Srinagar via Thanamandi being illegally smuggled toward Srinagar (by foot) without any permission.
Police arrested three bovine smugglers namely Mohd Shabir son of Mohd Bashir resident of Nadian, Showket Hussain son of Mohd Iqbal resident of Rani Balater and Mohd Raiz son of Bahg Hussain resident of Rakiban. A case under FIRs No.323/2015 and 84/2015 section 188 RPC, 3 PCA was registered at Police Station Rajouri and investigation going on.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the year 2015, 39 cases of bovine smuggling have been registered against 112 persons in which 264 bovines were rescued and 22 vehicles seized so far.
