10th SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan concludes at New Delhi

NEW DELHI: Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts (SaMaPa) organised the 10th Annual edition of its three-day long prestigious SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan recently at the Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.
The festival had enthralling performances by Music legend Pt. Bhajan Sopori (Santoor), Music Maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori (Santoor), Pt. Debu Chaudhuri and Prateek Chaudhuri (Sitar), Ajay Prasanna (Flute), Shubhendra Rao (Sitar), Saskia Rao De Haas (Cello), Kaivalya Kumar (Vocal) amongst other.
The musical saga commenced with presentation of Swar-Laya-Samwad (Panch Tatva) coordinated by Pt. Vijay Shanker Mishra with young generation musicians like Sameer Bhalerao, Anjani Mishra and Nitin Sharma (Vocal) and Bharat Mishra, Deepak Sahai and Sachin Sharma (Tabla). It was followed by a musical extravaganza with Santoor Maestro and music composer Abhay Rustum Sopori, who in his own style presented various aspects of what we call its own kind of music which enthralled everyone sitting in the auditorium. First day of the festival concluded with presentation of Kathak dance by Rekha Nadgauda, Aditi Nadgauda Panse with Kirti Kala Mandir dance troupe. Second day saw the performances by Ajay Prasanna and Sugato Bhaduri (Flute and Mandolin) followed by vocal recital by Dhananjay Hegde. The second day concluded on a high with scintillating performance by Father-Son duo Pt. Debu Chaudhuri and Prateek Chaudhuri on Sitar. The third and final day commenced with Jugalbandi of Sitar and Cello by Shubhendra Rao and Saskia Rao De Haas followed by a vocal recital by Kaivalya Kumar. The three-day music festival concluded with a mesmerizing Santoor recital by the living legend, Pt. Bhajan Sopori.
Many distinguished guests like John Samuel (Member Postal Board), Arun Kumar (ACP Delhi), Suresh Goel (former DG ICCR), Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi (DDG Doordarshan), V. Ponnuraj (Private Secretary, Ministry of Law, Govt. Of India), Sheo Narayan Singh Anived (eminent writer and artist and Commissioner Customs), Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra and Pt. Ravindra Misra (eminent musicologists) and others were seen enjoying the festival including a galaxy of musicians.
