JAMMU: Seeking relief on humanitarian consideration, scores of 10+2 contractual lecturers from different districts of J and K accentuated their long pending demands and said that they are serving in government higher secondary schools for the last several years on contractual basis. They said that they have been serving in the Education Department for the last 17 years, but till date they have not been regularised.
They also said that the successive governments had promised resolution to their demands, but till date no government delivered its promises of regularising contractual 10+2 lecturers.
The 10+2 lecturers lamented that the last Coalition Government regularised thousands of adhoc and contractual employees under JK Civil Services (special provision) 2010 Act, but they have been ignored. They further appealed to the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to bring them in the ambit of the said Act, keeping in view their ages and vast experiences.
