100 papers presented on 2nd day of statistical conference

JAMMU: About 100 papers were presented in three parallel sessions and nine invited talks were delivered on the second day of ongoing National Conference on “Recent Advances in Statistical Methods and their Application in Health Sciences”, organised by the PG Department of Statistics, University of Jammu, here on Sunday.
There were academic sessions and interactions on many aspects of Bio-statistics, Actuarial Statistics, Reliability Theory, Sample Surveys, Designing of Experiment, and Data Mining etc.
Prof. L. Satyanarayana delivered lecture on ‘A Review on Cancer Incidence in India from twenty five population based Cancer Registries’. Prof. Shyam S Ganguly delivered lecture on ‘Ordinal Logistic Regression Model in the study of Endometrial Cancer’. Prof. K.K Jose also delivered lecture on ‘A Stochastic Process for the Incidence of Cholera and Chikungunya and Climate Change’. Prof. T.B Ram Kumar delivered lecture on ‘Assessment of Quality of Life on Infertile Couple’.
Prominent researchers like Prof. Ravi K Mahajan, Prof. Pawan Kumar and Prof. Sangeeta Arora delivered their technical talks which were appreciated by the participants.
About 250 participants from all parts of the country and a few from foreign countries are taking part.
Later, to provide entertaining atmosphere, the students of PG Department of Statistics organised a cultural programme.
Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. R.D Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Dean Mathematical Science, Prof. J.P Singh Joorel, Prof. Rahul Gupta, HoD Statistics, Prof. P.C Jha, Prof. S.C Malik and Prof. Ramesh Gupta HoD Statistics MAM College were also present in the function.
