10-day Calligraphy Workshop concludes
Youth can change face of our Country: Mayor Jammu

JAMMU: 10-day Calligraphy Workshop organised by Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) concluded on Monday at K.L Saigal Hall, here.
At the outset, Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor Cum Cultural Officer, Gojri JKAACL welcomed the guests on behalf of Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL who took this initiative to organise this workshop first time in Jammu.
The workshop was conducted by Harishankar Balothia, an eminent Calligraphy artist and a professional graphic visualizer from Jaipur, Karambir Singh Rohilla, a Typeface Designer and Typographer with expertise in Latin & Indic Fonts development, Rohit Verma, a professional Artist form Jammu and Raghunita Gupta, Professional Calligrapher and Chairperson of the Calligraphy Foundation.
Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Rajinder Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, and Rashpal Singh, Additional Commissioner Revenue was the Guest of Honour.
The Chief Guest in his speech said that youth can change the face of our Country. He appreciated the efforts of Academy and especially the Secretary, JKAACL Bharat Singh for initiating such activities where the young generations get connected with their roots.
Rashpal Singh told about the importance of calligraphy which the new generation do not know. He said that calligraphy connects you to yourself.
An exhibition of the works done by the students during this 10 day workshop was also displayed. The students had utilised the art of calligraphy as per their fields of choice.
Students who participated include Sunena Bharti, Ekta Kumari, Shivali Rajput, Sofia Mehra, Nikita Sharma, Sunpreet Kour, Shiraya Sharma, Pritama Suri, Tannu, Vanshika Gupta, Chakshu Sharma, Maithly, Drishti Gupta, Seerat, Ayushi, Rupali Mehra, Mannat Sharma, Suhani Gupta, Ashima Mahajan, Rakshant Balotra, Dhanush Dalmotra, Parav Samotra, Aneesh Sharma, Madhu Thakur, Chahat Verma, Reet Gupta, Medavi Sharma, Sknda Sharma, Mohd Kamil, Vishali Mehra, Vanshika, Seeya Saini, Jeevika and Sania.
The participants were given Certificates of Participation by the chief guest. Rattan Basotra, Editor, Dogri, JKAACL presented the vote of thanks.
