POONCH: Continuing the drive against bovine smugglers, District Police Poonch laid multiple check points at various places in the district to prevent the illegal transportation of bovines to the Valley especially on Mughal Road.
Police parties headed by Inspr. Masoof Ahmed SHO Police Station Surankote SI Amrit Katoch of Police Post Behramgalla under the supervision of S. Jatinder Singh Johar SSP Poonch rescued 10 bovines, arrested four bovine smugglers and seized two vehicles (JK12-5297 and JK02B-4245) used for illegal smuggling of bovines to the Valley through the Mughal Road.
The arrested smugglers were identified as Subash Chand son of Hari Chand resident of Nai Basti Jammu, Fazal Amin son of Mohd Amin, Imtiaz son of Mohd Sadiuq and Iftikar Hussain son of hakim Din all residents of Faislabad, Surankote .
The recoveries were affected at police check point established at Behramgalla on Mughal road.
It is pertinent to mention here that SSP Poonch recently held meetings with SDPO/ SHO Surankote / Incharge Police Post Behramgalla and directed the officers to strictly curb the menace of illegal transportation of bovines through Mughal Road by way of laying effective Naka and round the clock checking by Incharge Police Posts / SHOs and supervisory officers.
A case under FIR No. 109 and 110 of 2015 section 188, 353 RPC was registered at PS Surankote against the accused persons. The accused persons were arrested and the investigations are going on to unearth the nexus which is being used for illegal transportation of bovine animals to the Valley via Mughal road.
